Not Your Average Motorbike Tour

This is a guided expedition through parts of Kenya most tourists never reach. Winding dirt roads, open savannah, mountain views, wildlife roaming free & a handpicked lodge at the end of every day.

You ride your own Kibo 250. We handle the rest. Route, safety, luggage, food, fuel. You just ride.

It is about the beauty of the place & the joy of riding it together, not about endurance. One moment you are passing zebras, the next you are watching the sun go down behind Kilimanjaro with a cold drink in your hand.

Why riders keep coming back

  • Private conservancies. Restricted zones & landscapes no tourist bus will ever reach.
  • Wildlife from the saddle. Zebra, giraffe, antelope & ostrich, with no windscreen in the way.
  • The Safari Rally route. We ride sections of it, with a team that knows every corner.
  • Kilimanjaro. Often with snow on top, usually when you least expect it.
  • Lodge to lodge. Full board, locally run, good food & a proper shower every night.
  • Max eight riders. Small group, shared days on the trail, evenings around the fire.

The bike

Kibo 250, Built in Kenya

You ride a Kibo 250, made in Kenya for Kenyan roads. Light, forgiving & easy to pick up when you drop it, which you probably will. Exactly the right bike for this terrain.

You do not carry your own luggage. The support vehicle takes it, along with the tools & the spares.

Want more power? A Voge 300cc upgrade is available on request, subject to availability.

Honest check

Is This Trip For You?

Yes, if you

  • Are comfortable on two wheels & up for a real adventure
  • Want to see Africa in a way most people never will
  • Enjoy nature, culture & good company
  • Like a mix of riding, relaxing & discovering

Be honest with yourself about

The surfaces. Most of this is gravel, murram & sand. You do not need to be an expert, but you do need to be relaxed off the tarmac.

The days. 150 to 250 km, five to seven hours with breaks, in the heat.

The remoteness. Some days there is no phone signal & no shop. That is the point.

This is an adventure, not an endurance challenge. If you can ride, you can do this. Not sure? Talk to us & we will tell you straight.

Where it starts

Doc’s Eco Camp, Kitengela

The loop starts & ends at Doc’s Eco Camp in Kitengela, our HQ & one of Africa’s best overlanding bases. It is where we fix the bikes, recharge & cook up the next route.

Great food, the coldest drinks, epic sunsets & a welcome that makes you feel at home from the moment you land.

Frequently Asked Questions

How good a rider do I need to be?

Comfortable on two wheels & relaxed on gravel. You do not need racing experience. Most of our riders are ordinary road riders who wanted something different.

What if I have never ridden terrain like this?

Day 2 is there for exactly that. You get to know the bike, the group & the surfaces before we head out properly.

How long are the days?

150 to 250 km, roughly five to seven hours including breaks. We stop often, at the places worth stopping for.

What should I pack?

We send a full kit list once you are booked. Short version: your own helmet & riding gear, layers for cold mornings, and less than you think.

Is it safe?

Yes. Small groups, a support vehicle behind you, daily briefings, and Raj on the team with a medical background. We ride routes we know.

Can I bring someone who does not ride?

Yes, there is space in the support vehicle. Same route, same lodges, no bike. Get in touch & we will sort the details.

Do I need a visa for Kenya?

You need an eTA, applied for online before you travel. We send instructions once you are booked.

What are the evenings like?

Lodge, shower, food, cold drink, fire. Stories that get better every night. Nobody is in a hurry.

Ready to Ride?

Eight spots on the 2027 Safari Loop. They go fast & they go to the people who ask first.
